We are always glad to share educational events and useful organizations with our clients, their families and the community. In this post we are shining a light on “The Salute.” This event on Saturday, March 2nd at the Colorado Convention Center is organized by the Colorado Gerontological Society (CGS).

This great organization has been serving older adults in Colorado since 1980. The Colorado Gerontological Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides advocacy, information and assistance to Colorado seniors as well as education and networking for professionals serving seniors.

The Colorado Gerontological Society serves low income seniors who need assistance with filing forms for government benefits from tax rebates, Medicaid applications, food stamps, Social Security, Medicare, and supplemental insurance benefits. CGS also administers grant assistance programs for low income seniors over 60 in the Denver metro area who need dental work, eyeglasses and hearing.

Another service the Colorado Gerontological Society provides is hosting “The Salute.” The Salute event is Colorado’s largest senior expo for 30 years with information for older adults, resources for seniors, live entertainment, games, and prizes.

This year “The Salute” recognizes the history of the West and celebrates the frontier spirit that built Colorado. The culture of the West will be on display from country and rock n’ roll music to cowboy poetry. Historical exhibits will be provided by the History Colorado Center, the Forney Museum of Transportation and the Buffalo Bill Museum. The actual senior resource fair and expo brings together over 100 exhibitors showcasing support services, housing options, social experiences, educational opportunities, health care resources and more.
